International students of ZBVI visited the Ceramic glaze Art Department and experienced the Chinese ceramic culture by making ceramic works by themselves on the afternoon of May 12th.
During the visit, the teachers in Ceramic glaze Art Department introduced the history of Chinese ceramics and the features and handicrafts of the local ceramic industry, emphasizing and demonstrating some tricks in manufacturing such products. Following the teacher’s instructions, international students made their own ceramic handiworks, experienced the fantastic ceramic manufacturing procedure. Some of their products were quite unique and innovative. Of all the parts of the processing, frame-making is the most impressive. All the students realized that it was no easy job to make some simple everyday utensils such as bowls and bottles.
This class not only enriches the international students’ after-school life, but also helps them to learn more about the charm of Chinese ceramic culture and the pleasure of Do-it-yourself. Besides, it is an excellent opportunity to promote traditional Chinese culture.
